Katie is a recent transplant to the Bay Area from her home on Maui, and has had many different encounters with music during her life. Katie's admiration of jazz began early through her involvement in theatrical productions that featured the music of Cole Porter, Ira Gershwin and Rogers & Hammerstein. She studied classical piano for many years and continues to use her skills to accompany herself.  While attending college in Baltimore, Katie explored many different genres of music and began composing her own songs. Katie moved to San Francisco to further explore her original music, and now plays out with her original band "Beauty Queen."  Notable venues include Bimbos 365, Brick and Mortar and Great American Music Hall. When she's not performing with her original band, she is out attending jam sessions and singing at weddings!
