A SOUL WITH LOVE AND COURAGE
In the 13 years that I've worked as a professional Jazz singer, I have had the privelege of working with some wonderful Jazz musicians including Brian Haas, Mark Southerland, Denny Morouse, Helio Alvez, Duduka da Fonseca, Rumero Lubumbo, Nilson Mata, Randy Brecker and The Peoples Liberation Big Band.
I started singing Jazz in High school. When my teacher asked if anyone in the band would like to sing a song for an upcoming concert. I was a Sax player but had an obsession for Jazz vocalists and old standards. I would spend hours at home or in the car singing along to my Nat King Cole, Chet Baker and Sarah Vaughan CD's, so I volunteered. After singing "Orange Colored Sky" in front of the school audience, I was hooked and never looked back. Since then I've performed in many beautiful and unique venues such as Cains Ballroom in Tulsa, Granada Theater in Dallas, Jimmy Macs in Portland, Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz, Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles and Chez Papa in Paris. In 2007 I was the first ever female recipient of the Legacy Tribute Award presented by the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame.
Originally based in Tulsa Oklahoma, I've recently moved to the San Francisco Bay area where I look forward to listening to and collaborating with more great musicians.
