About Golden Gate Jazz Collective
Golden Gate Jazz Collective (GGJC) is a San Francisco-Bay Area association of producers, presenters and supporting organisations who specialise in creative music, contemporary jazz and improvised music created from a distinctly European perspective.
GGJC exists to support the identity and diversity of jazz in the San Francisco-Bay Area and broaden awareness of this vital area of music as a cultural and educational force.
GGJC's mission is to encourage, promote and support the development of the creative music sector in the Bay Area and to create opportunities for artists, organisers and audiences from the different countries to meet and communicate.
GGJC believes that creative music contributes to social and emotional growth and economic prosperity. It is an invaluable channel for the process of inter-cultural dialogue, communication and collaboration. And music is a positive force for harmony and understanding between people from the diversity of cultures inherent in the Bay Area family.
Golden Gate Jazz Collective aims to:
Develop the association as a San Francisco-Bay Area network of producers of live music.
Encourage musical culture in general and jazz and improvised music in particular, and enable these musics to reach the widest possible public.
Initiate and encourage the development of county exchanges, special projects and collaborations, between producers and artists both within and outside the nine bay area counties.
Encourage its members to programme San Francisco-Bay Area artists and their work.
Members join Golden Gate Jazz Collective to:
